Job Description

We are seeking a talented, motivated, and experienced Narrative Designer to join our creative team. In this role, you will be instrumental in expanding and enriching the narratives of our beloved game, "Good Pizza, Great Pizza," as well as developing compelling stories for exciting new game projects. Your work will involve crafting engaging characters, immersive storylines, and meaningful player choices, significantly enhancing the overall player experience.

OBJECTIVES

  • Collaborate with the content and design teams to create immersive storylines, characters, and narratives;
  • Design, pitch, and execute compelling story chapters and events;
  • Develop engaging dialogue and interactive narratives, integrating player choices seamlessly into gameplay;
  • Create interactive, branching narratives, ensuring player choices feel impactful and meaningful;
  • Ensure narrative consistency and maintain high-quality storytelling standards across our titles;
  • Develop and maintain detailed narrative style guides to help other writers.

COMPETENCIES

  • Proven experience crafting narratives and dialogues suited for diverse, global audiences;
  • Ability to seamlessly integrate narrative elements with game mechanics;
  • Familiarity with narrative structuring tools such as Twine, Yarn, Ink, Articy, or equivalent;
  • Deep understanding of narrative-driven game design principles and storytelling techniques;
  • Able to adapt content to so it works for different languages and cultures - use of puns is fine but need to work with localization team for other languages;
  • Exceptional attention to detail is essential—please include the phrase "beauty is in the details" in your cover letter.

Education And Experience

  • 3+ years of narrative design experience, ideally with shipped narrative-driven games showcasing branching and non-linear storytelling;
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in narrative design, creative writing, or a related field;
  • Plus: Experience in developing branching and non-linear narratives using narrative design software.

Physical Requirements

  • Los Angeles, CA: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work;
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and computer.
